Vivian Maier

Happy 2011 peeps! Here is a great discovery to begin with.

This is a pretty great story and an incredible find for the history of photography. This guy bought a box of negatives at an estate sale and discovered and undiscovered female street photographer from the mid-century. Her work holds up with the Gary Winogrand, Lee Fridlander, William Egelston and Weegee. She never did anything with her work, it was just a hobby, she was a full time nanny and took pictures on her own time. There are hundreds of rolls that were never even developed. The video tells the whole story.
